The children have been asking to do baking quite a lot recently, they just love it. So we’ve done a couple of batches of cakes and today we made some chocolate chip cookies. One of the things I love about them baking is inspires them to learn things, and they don’t even realise it. For example, they love measuring out the ingredients up to where I show them the pointer should be at, they love carefully pouring the measured ingredients into the bowl, they love reading what the next instruction is, they love mixing the ingredients together in the bowl, the list goes on. Also, we have a good turn taking system, so everyone gets an equal chance to do something, and where needed I get one child to hold the bowl for the other child (e.g. when the stirring gets more difficult), so it encourages them to work together as a team. They love it all, including the end result!
