I had been wanting to try painting hot rocks with crayons for a while and we got a chance today. We heated the rocks in the oven for about 10 minutes and selected the crayons which were long and un-snapped. I then took one rock at a time out of the oven (though they do keep the heat for a long time) and let Amber paint them. She loved the melting of the crayons! It was quite difficult to do a picture or pattern due to the melty-ness so in the end she just let them melt and was pushing the crayons down and watching them shrink. The rocks looked great and we’re now constantly on the look out for rocks we can paint when we’re out and about.
