Today we had a very interesting afternoon mixing watercolours. We started off using the main colours from the tray, then the children discovered they could make different colours on the paper when two colours mixed. So we got some little ice cube trays and used them to mix up new batches of colours to use. As well as making new colours like purple by mixing blue and red together, they discovered they could make different shades of a colour by adding small amounts of another colour, like adding white a little red to make pink, adding a little bit of blue to green to make turquoise. We ended up with lots of different new colours :o)
