I love World Book Day, though I really do think favourite books should be celebrated more often, as there’s far too many to cover in one day! This year I encouraged the children to bring in their favourite book or books from home and we read them all. We had some classics and some new stories to read and they were all brilliant! One of the favourites is of course the Gruffalo and I made some little cardboard puppets with Gruffalo pictures on which were played with whilst reading the story. We also did some book-related crafts including making the Ten Little Ladybirds out of salt dough, and then painting them. We also made some reading charts, for the children to record the books they read at home. I have done this with the children before and they loved the chart and get really excited when its time to write a new book on!
